I've been living in Naples for 4 years to study at the University. I myself was afraid at first...but now I can assure you all that it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Naples in not only 'pizza e mandolino', waste and thieves, but it's also full art, history, colours, sun, joy and beauty.
Of course you have to avoid dangerous situation like being in the street late at night...it's obvious...but not only in Naples.
And you have to remember that there are a lot of prejudices about Naples more or less true...
