Does Germany belong to west Europe?

There's no clear definition.

During the cold war, any NATO country was automatically classified as belonging to Western Europe, any communist country as belonging to Eastern Europe. So everyone you might have asked, would have said that Finland is a Western European country, and Poland an Eastern European country - even so that makes no sense geographically.

Geographically, some people divide Europe into east and west; others divide it into east, west and central; etc. etc.
And these definitions are mixed with the old Cold War traditions as well.....

So, for some, Germany is part of Western Europe, while Poland is part of Eastern Europe; others however, would count Poland to Central Europe; others would say Germany AND Poland are in Central Europe; then there are those who say that Germany is in Central Europe, but Poland is in Eastern-Central Europe (as opposed to Belarus in Eastern Europe); so, you see, it is not all that easy....
