You would need to investigate guide books for each country and plan your route with care. "Highways" tend to be pretty much one lane in each direction, with lots of cars, trucks, buses, etc. all passing one another with reckless abandon. It can take a very long time to cover a relatively short distance here. (It has taken me 10-12 hours to drive from Cucuta to Bogota (a distance of ~ 400 miles).
