Getting around Costa Rica...?

I will be going to Costa Rica in May. I am flying into San Jose airport, but am staying in Playa Coco in Guanacaste. What is the easiest/cheapest way to get there?
If you don't have a lot of luggage you can take a bus from the airport into San Jose, then take a taxi or even walk to the bus station and take the bus to Coco. Buses are cheap and not bad, but there are numerous bus stations in San Jose, and if you don't know your way around (I assume you don't) or don't speak decent Spanish, you may struggle. Also, if you arrive at night, I would not advise wandering around San Jose (after 8 pm or so).

Your guidebook (if you don't have one, GET ONE) should tell you which bus station to go to for buses to Coco. The guidebook should also have a map, so you can see how far from Parque de la Merced the station is, and whether you will be able to walk it or not. My guess is that you would, but I wouldn't do it after 8 pm. Good luck.
