How can I ensure my duty free bottles don't get smashed?

I am going to Majorca next week, and would like to bring some duty free drinks back, in the past I have taken my duty free onto the aeroplane as hand luggage, but now they don't allow liquids to be taken on as hand luggage whats the best way to ensure my bottles don't get smashed by the baggage handlers?
I COULDNT BELEIVE YOUR QUESTION WHEN I SAW THIS!

I Said to myself i hope she isnt going to majorca when i read the first line, then when you said 'i am going to Majorca next week.........

Let me tell you....

Me and my partner always have this problem with this airport, the airport is: Son Sant Joan in Palma de Mallorca and we go more or less 3-4 times a year and we have this problem with baggage handlers.

DID YOU KNOW:

When you check your suitcase or bags in at the airport, when your suitcase gets tagged on that conveyor by the check-in person it goes through the flaps and your suitcase in THEN DROPPED 2 METERS TO THE CONVEYOR BELOW, soo many people walk away with fear that all your belongings are broken and the noise that it makes when your items are dropped is very loud and worrying, me and my partner both have bought designer fragrance and duty free goods in glass bottles and all has smashed in the suitcase on to clothes wrecking everything in your suitcase! we no longer put any gifts or duty free in suitcases, ITS REALLY NOT ADVISED!

Please if you can buy all duty free once you have gone through security gate at palma airport going home, you are best carrying it in carry bags as hand luggage, and you wont have any problems with how much you can bring back etc, because we never do.

If you do want to pack stuff in your suitcase, you will probably need to seal every bottle in atleast 4-5 plastic bags, and then wrap in multiple towels, but please dont pack bottles if you can because i warn you, your suitcase do get 'dropped' on to the conveybelow checkin beyond the black flaps, and ive heard only too many people complain about this problem.

On the other hand, me and my partner went to majorca 3 weeks ago and we are going again on the 10th april, and we noticed that all the duty free shops and resteraunts area is closed as they are completely redesigning and upgrading the airport and from my knowledge they have made 'makeshift' duty free shops that are temporary and you may feel that they have limited some items for sale until the new duty free area has been built.

Security was also very relaxed at the airport 3 weeks ago and i did not see anyone with see-through bags and 100ml containers, please check as i think that son sant joan airport may of lifted the 100ml bag rule, so please check as its worth it, me and my partner has bought loads of stuff and booze at the airport before and has got it through on to the plains with no problems at and we go with ryanair and easyjet.

so my advice is dont pack glass bottles in your suitcase, and try to buy them at son sant joan airport (palma de mallorca airport) and bring them as hand luggage, security is more relaxed at the airport now than what is was last summer and last october.

But alot of spirits in palma of mallorca are actually sold in plastic bottles beleive it or not, and i think most spirits such as smirnoff, bacardi, absolute, jack daniels, etc are sold in plastic bottles! (how cool is that!) so if you can buy these plastic bottle versions for the suitcase! Atleast they wont smash!

You have been warned the checkin desk's conveyer where your suitcase is tagged is conveyed to a VERY STEEP DROP to a coveyer below, so protect whatever you can and roll all you botles up with towels after sealing it with bags!

This will do you a whole world of favors!

Good luck and happy holidays!
