How far is San Juan from Isla Verde? Where would be a better place to stay with a car or without? Looking to be situated directly on the beach. Would prefer to be close to restaurants and shops. Isla Verde is part of San Juan, it a neighborhood name. If you want to stay on the beach you should look at hotels in Isla Verde, they have a nice, miami like beach with many hotels. But remember, look for Beachfront, not oceanfront. If you stay in San Juan you will not need to rent a car. Everything is in close distance & you can get to it by public transportation. Old San Juan is about 10-15 minutes away by bus or taxi. Here are all the historical sights & alot of restaraunts & nightlife. Also Isla Verde has alot of restaraunts & casinos too. Enjoy your trip! I would reccomend renting a car if you want to see other sites outside the city, like El Yunque rain forest & the bioluminescent bay or Camuy Caves & Arecibo Telescope. But you can also take tourist bus trips from San Juan.
