Sailing the Caribbean & beyond in a Catamaran, any suggestions/advice?

I am starting to (finally!) plan to cruise the Caribbean, and possibly further.. I am considering a 20+ foot Catamaran, any suggestions as minimum size Cat, and minimum supplies? Thanks!
Minimum size depends on how many persons will be seated so if there are twelve persons its gonna be upwards of 40 feet and more,for smaller amount of person traveling within a Catamaran like two or less, 20 and up is ok if its accommodatingly built ,however this trip out at sea demands person of great expertise in maneuvering your craft.

However reason for stating importance of persons versus size is that you did not state if your a loner or if your in a group,if your a loner a 20 foot plus Catamaran should be ok.
