What happens if someone is using a cell phone during a flight?
and how do the stewardesses know who was using it? Studies by NASA and Carnegie Mellon have shown that cell phones can interfere with certain radio frequencies and especially affect GPS equipment used for landings. Mythbusters is a joke, on the show about airplanes and cell phones they used a directional device called VOR for their test, they tested cell phones against only one piece of equipment found on airplanes and VOR is on it's way out on airplanes. The odds of a cell phone interfering with radio signals is small, but NASA thinks that it's only a matter of time before a cell phone causes a disaster, Boeing supports this argument and the ban on cell phones. Airlines that will soon allow cell phones will need to install additional equipment for cell phones to be used safely. The only way a flight attendant knows if someone is using a phone is to visually see someone using one, just don't use it until it's proven safe, and not by Mythbusters.
