There is much less than in the UK, YES, there is crime...............but its generally family feuds that hit the press the most!! lately hubby kills wife - wife kills hubby!
But in general you are safe to walk about even at night, you don't have to keep looking over your shoulder, BUT there is the obvious NO GO areas in all bit cities, just like any place else in this world...........as for crimes against the elderly/children, the guilty are treated NOT with kids gloves here.
I live on the Costa del Sol ( costa del crime) but the criminals who are here are all immigrants, Brits. Romanians, the Russian Mafia, Bulgarians, all imports, if they weren't here the crime levels would be even less!
