What places should I stop at along the Trans-Mongolian Railway?
I'm planning on doing the Trans-Mongolian Railway (Railway that runs from Moscow, Russia, through Mongolia, to Beijing, China) in September with my boyfriend and want to stop at places along the way. What are the best places to see along the way and how long should I allow in each place? The main stops are Irkutsk (from where you can visit Lake Baikal) and Ulaan Baatar (UB) in Mongolia.
I'd say 2 days for Irkutsk and 3 for UB are enough. You have to also fit your schedule in with the train timetables.
If you have more time you might think of stopping at Yekaterinburg as well.
