What to do in Winter near Berlin Germany?

I have never been to Europe and my husband will take a business trip to Berlin in Jan. I really like to take a vacation there in early Feb 2008. But i am worrying that it will be too cold to get around and i don't know what are the best things to do there in Winter. Need your suggestions??br />Berlin's surroundings aren't ideal in winter, but I do recommend the "Tropical Islands" in the nearby state of Brandeburg. It's the world's largest hangar turned into a tropical rain forest. It used to be the home of a company called Cargolifter, which unsuccessfully tried to bring back the Zepelin for commercial transport.

Prussian winters are brutal! Expect wind. Post-Christmas winters in Berlin are rough, because all the Christmas markets have packed up and closed down. At those markets, the hot drinks make you feel warm outdoors.

What I would suggest to you is to order "Gl?hwein" wherever it's available. That's a warm mulled wine, which keeps you feeling toasty.

Indoor things to do in Berlin: The Magic Mountain climbing gym near the S-Bahn station "Gesundbrunnen" is cheap. February is peak theater season and Berlin has two symphonies, two opera, two national libraries... well, two of everything because of the Berlin Wall. February is also semester break for the university crowd, so clubs will be awesome. You can also try curling at the ice rink in the Sony Center at Postdamer Platz.
